Adsorptive and Surface Characterization of Mediterranean Agrifood Processing Wastes: Prospection for Pesticide Removal

چکیده

The sustainable management of biomass is a key global challenge that demands compliance with fundamental requirements social and environmental responsibility economic effectiveness. Strategies for the valorization waste from agrifood industries must be in line technological eco-industrial approaches. efficient bioremoval pesticides imazalil thiabendazole aqueous effluents using typically Mediterranean (citrus waste, artichoke agrowaste olive mill residue) revealed these residues may transformed into cost-effective biosorbents. Agrifood wastes present irregular surfaces, many different sized pores active functional groups on their surface, they are abundant nature. surface adsorptive properties residue, citrus were characterized respect to elemental composition, microstructure, crystallinity, pore size, presence groups, thermal stability, point zero charge. Olive residue showed highest values area (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method), porosity, crystallinity index, pH efficiency sorption capacities 9 mg·g?1 8.6 thiabendazole.
